Superheroes in the community.

Today we were lucky enough to have a visit from a real life superhero.

Graham Butterworth, who is a paramedic, talked to the children about some of the things he does to help people and save lives.

Well done to everybody in Reception for your super behaviour and your brilliant questions!

  • Metal makes a good boat (Max)
  • We could make a helicopter (Lucas)
  • Mine is a Lego bridge (Amory)
  • The paper sinks (Harry)
  • I can make a boat (Ella)
  • Lego makes a good bridge (Annia)
  • He can cross my bridge (George)

Thank you to everyone who has completed and handed in their homework this week. Homework should be handed in on a Monday morning so we can get our star chart completed and displayed promptly! The activities do consolidate the learning the children have undertaken in school and explaining what they have learned to you is a fantastic way of embedding their learning.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask one of us.
Thank you for your support.

More Superheroes

Not only have we made superhero badge biscuits this week......
Our Beebots have got into the act too! Did you spot them disguised as superheroes?

Science

This week the children have been investigating whether changing the material on the ramp changes the speed and distance that vehicles travel. And did it? Let's find out......

It goes faster on the paper (Matthew)

The grass (made it) go slower (William)

The car travelled faster on the paper because it was smooth (Cerys)

When the car went on the paper it went the furthest (Millie)

When the car went on the carpet it went very slowly (Kassi)

The car went slowly on the carpet because it wasn’t really smooth (Taylor)

Happy New Year!

Well we can hardly believe how quickly the time has flown by....it's 2011 and we are back in class on Wednesday 5th January (2 more sleeps!)

We hope that you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year break and that everybody feels refreshed and excited about the new term. Our topic will be Superheroes and the children will be finding out more about superheroes, both old and new....we have some really exciting activities planned for them. If you have any superhero dress up costumes, masks, capes or action figures that you no longer use - we would be very grateful for them.

Just to remind you that PE is Thursday and all children need their PE kit every week. We will be focusing on mini basketball and mini soccer this half term. Please can you ensure that your child(ren) have their reading book bag in school every day too? Thank you.
