News round up

Well done to our superstars this week - Maddie and Emilia and to George who was our achiever! Mrs Friar reported that George had done some amazing work on our papier machie masks.

Welcome back to Daisy and Lewis (we have missed you) and get well soon to Jenson. I am looking forward to having a full carpet next week!

We have now finished with our formal PE sessions so please can you encourage your child (if they haven't already done so) to bring home their PE kit. Lockers will also need to be emptied next week so we can get them cleaned out ready for September (please note my lovely ladies whose lockers resemble fashionista's store cupboards!)

Sports Day

Thank you to all our parents for supporting your children and the school at Sports Day! It was lovely to see so many of you there. Well done to Libby Seager's dad who won the Dad's race!

The overall winners were the RED team and every child that represented this team will receive a Rosette. If you didn't get yours today don't worry, it will be delivered to the classroom tomorrow.

Well done everybody! Don't forget it's a normal day tomorrow, so back into uniforms and don't forget your book bags!

Reading Bags

As the next couple of weeks have extra things happening, it may be that we have to read with children and change books on different days. We would be really grateful if you could make sure book bags are in school every day!

Thank you for your support.

A busy week in reception

Here's a few of the things we got up to last week!

For homework this week the children have been asked to complete a practical capacity activity to consolidate their learning. We have been practising using language such as 'full', 'empty', 'half full' etc.
Can you also support us by revisiting the tricky words and keywords we have been learning. In order to continue making super progress as they move into Year 1 the children need to be able to read and write these independently. You can access the homework by clicking here: http://www.docstoc.com/docs/document-preview.aspx?doc_id=83449364

All children were given a letter yesterday detailing their new class teacher from September and the arrangements for transition day this Tuesday. The children will all spend a full day in their new class - if you have any questions, please feel free to raise them with a member of the Reception team. Thank you.

Hope that you have a super weekend; Miss Lambert and I have been on an exciting course this morning about outdoor learning......watch this space for news!

Mrs Chin has almost emptied her garage and we have still run out of boxes, pots, caps etc! Please can you send in your clean junk modelling stuff and we will transform it (just ask Daisy's mum!!) no egg cartons or toilet roll tubes thank you.

All children have had their reading assessed this week and we have seen some super progress. In order to get our assessments completed, children may have read on a different day to usual and may not have had book bags with them. If you would like to change books or collect additional ones, you are welcome to come into school on Friday evenings and we do encourage children to change their reading books regularly themselves.

Our homework this week is focusing on number formation and matching letter sounds to names of letters. Please can you spend some time this weekend encouraging your children to complete these tasks?

Here is a video the children might like to watch about number formation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUSJQm4XLO4

and another one with the alphabet on: http://www.ngfl-cymru.org.uk/vtc/ngfl/ngfl-flash/alphabet-eng/alphabet.htm

Have a lovely weekend.
