Merry Christmas and all that.......
......stuff!
Well we have had an amazingly busy last week of term with our dress rehearsal for the whole school followed by our performance of 'Star of Wonder' to parents, carers and grandparents. The children worked incredibly hard to learn their lines and all the songs and despite a few technical hitches (!) it all went fabulously!
Thank you all for supporting us and providing all those super costumes. I'm sure you will agree that they all looked amazing.
Thank you too to the parents who have let us know how much they enjoyed the show. We are incredibly proud of all the children and what they have achieved.
Wednesday saw our class party and a treat for us all, a visiting pantomime performance of Peter Pan. The children were mesmerised and well done to Leo who joined in with the cast giving amazing directions for Peter Pan to rescue Wendy!
On Thursday we joined the rest of the school in the Hall for the Carol service and on Friday we had a fun filled day, culminating in Carols around the tree.
Sadly we have had a few children ill over the last week - we all hope you are feeling much better now and look forward to seeing you ......we've really missed you all!

You know it's winter when.....
What we've been up to today....
Despite the weather, we've had a fabulous day in Reception. This morning the children made a start on sewing some fabulous Christmas decorations. A huge thank you to Mrs Friar who spent last night cutting out felt shapes and threading needles!
This afternoon Mrs Chin took over the fabulous sewing and our intrepid baking team, led by Mrs Friar trekked to the annexe and made us all some lovely jam tarts!

Sounds of the week, tricky words and high frequency words
THANK YOU to all the parents and carers who are supporting our work in class and encouraging their children to practice their sounds and high frequency words. We are really impressed with the progress that the children have made over the last four weeks and your support is invaluable.
We have also listened to some fabulous readers and again the extra practice the children undertake at home really does have a massive impact on their reading. We are sure you are equally impressed!
The sounds for next week are:
w (as in wig, wag etc)
j (as in jog, jot etc)
n (as in not, nip etc)
e (as in egg, net etc)
and the high frequency words are: I/is/a/can/big/the

My Brother
This week we are sharing the story of My Brother by Anthony Browne. The children have been working with Miss Lambert and Mrs Steel to act out some imaginary family role-play and tell us what it is about their families and brothers in particular that are so super......
I am the daddy, I tell everybody off! All these live here (pointing to the other children in the group) - Harvey
I am the brother called Alfie - Harry
My family can ride a bike....my brother the one with the black hair - Lucas
I am the dog. I like dogs...I'm going to stay in bed! - Leo
My mum can cook meals - Libby
My brother...on a skateboard. He goes upside down - Alexander
Matthew - my brother can skate a skateboard.
Guy - she (my sister) can ride a bike and do gymnastics. She's cool!
Ben - my sister can run fast (waving his arms to demonstrate) this fast!
Jasmine - I've got a sister, she's five. She goes to work
